Sheila Mason...10 April 1950 - 24 November 2005.
Mom/Nan died from breast cancer, aged 55.
She had been visiting her doctor, complaining that she could feel a lump, for months...but the doctor just kept telling her that it was in her mind. By the time Sheila was finally dianosed the cancer had spread. She went through courses of chemotherapy, but it was too late. A year after the diagnosis, she became quite ill and was admitted to hospital. After 2weeks, mom passed away with her family around her.
Sheila faced her illness with courage and dignity. She hid from us how ill she really was. Her very last words were, "Make sure my wig's on straight,"!
Sheila didn't deserve to die like that. She is loved and missed by many family and friends - including her daughter Faye and her granddaughter Nicole.
Please, please if ever you find yourself in the same situation - where you think you may be ill - then make an appointment with your doctor. If you are not happy with that diagnosis, then seek a second opinion...don't let your GP fob you off...you know your body better than anyone.
